I first started learning to ring church bells at St James, Mangotsfield, Gloucestershire on 8th March 1993, shortly after their bells were recast. I'm now a regular ringer at a number of towers, including St John the Baptist, Keynsham, Somerset, where I became Tower Captain on 8th October 2009. I'm competent at ringing most Doubles methods – after a quick look at the blue line for the more obscure or infrequently-rung examples – and will happily ring on ten or (at a push) twelve bells, although I'm most at home on eight. Grandsire and Stedman are firm favourites; Plain Bob and Little Bob probably top my even-bell list, with a dash of Cambridge Surprise thrown in for good measure.
