Events:2010:Striking Competition

The 2010 competition was held at Kelston St Nicholas and proved to be a great success with 10 teams from throughout the branch taking part. After an hour and a half of ringing, all bands had completed their test piece and the teams gathered for a brief meeting (details to follow) and the results. Gaby Cowcill of St Mary Redcliffe, Bristol was judging the competition and awarded the following faults along with some useful comments for improvements:

And so it was Bath Abbey who were declared this year's champions and William Willans, tower captain of the Abbey, was presented with the Harold Parfrey Memorial Shield. We also have a recording of the winning touch, courtesy of Michael Day:

Quarterly Meeting

Whilst we had so many members of the Branch gathered together, we also held a Branch Quarterly Meeting.

Tom Longridge then made some notices, reminding those present of: Ringing at Wells on 14th March, Bell Maintenance Course on 17th April, Raising and Lowering Course planned for July, and Association events, the AGM in Wells on Easter Monday and the 6-bell striking competition to be held in the Bath Branch in June.


The subsequent skittles competition at The Crown in Saltford was won by a team representing Bathwick. Seven teams took part in the competition and good fun was had by all!
