On Saturday 7th March, we held a "Striking Day" at Newton St Loe. We had an excellent turnout, with 30 ringers from 7 towers taking part in five randomly-drawn teams. The aim of the day was to spend some time concentrating on striking and to introduce many to the way a striking competition. At short notice, Michael Day and Katy Whitaker kindly agreed to act as judges for the day and braved the chilly wind on the bench outside with squared paper and pen!

All teams completed five minutes of call changes successfully, however they were left in suspense until after tea and a striking quiz until the results were announced. Congratulations to Clover Holland's band who managed to pip Maggie Willan's band to the prize of a creme egg each!

Many thanks to everyone who came for their support and especially to David Lloyd and the Newton St Loe ringers for hosting the competition and supplying us with a marvellous tea.

If you have any photos of the day, then please e-mail them to me and I'll add them to the site.
